As the HIMS Seminar begins today, we want you to know exactly what that support is helping make possible—and how you can help shape the conversations we have while we are there.

We could not be where we are today without you.
Support for Pilots for HIMS Reform has come in many forms. Some of you have shared experiences that were difficult to put into words. Some have provided records, research, expertise, introductions, or professional insight. Some have amplified our work publicly. Others have supported us quietly because speaking openly about HIMS can still carry real professional concerns.
And many of you have supported this movement financially.
Recently, P4HR has been especially encouraged by several meaningful financial contributions, along with the continued support of donors giving at every level. Those contributions are giving this organization greater capacity to travel, attend key industry events, expand research and policy work, communicate directly with decision-makers, and build public awareness around the need for HIMS reform.
The HIMS Seminar begins today—and P4HR is there
Today, September 9, the HIMS Seminar begins. P4HR will be there throughout the event representing the reform perspective and, most importantly, representing the pilots and families whose experiences too often go unheard in rooms where HIMS policy and practice are discussed.
We are not attending simply to observe.
We intend to listen carefully, ask difficult but fair questions, challenge assumptions when the evidence requires it, and advocate for a system that is transparent, evidence-based, objectively administered, safety-focused, and capable of recognizing long-term recovery rather than treating historical diagnoses as permanent regulatory identities.
Where useful and appropriate, we are also prepared to seek direct conversations with FAA personnel, HIMS stakeholders, aeromedical professionals, policymakers, and others who can help address specific concerns.
Send us the issue you want advocated
If you have something specific you want P4HR to advocate for on your behalf during the seminar, please contact us as soon as possible. Tell us what happened, what policy or practice concerns you, and—if you know—what you would like changed.
That may include concerns involving monitoring duration, testing requirements, Special Issuance, step-down decisions, psychiatric evaluations, treatment requirements, HIMS AME authority, transparency, appeals, unrestricted medical certification, privacy, financial burdens, or another issue that you believe deserves attention.
We cannot promise that every individual issue will result in a specific meeting or immediate answer. But where a concern is appropriate to raise, we can use the opportunity to seek answers, identify the right decision-maker, advocate for the broader policy issue, or request a follow-up conversation after the seminar.
We will not identify you or disclose personal details without your permission. If you want us to raise an issue only in generalized or de-identified form, tell us that when you write.
The next phase of P4HR
This movement is entering a more active phase.
Our work will continue on multiple fronts: the FAA regulatory process, legislative advocacy, engagement with oversight bodies, direct policy conversations, public education, media outreach, research, and strategic communications. The objective is not simply to criticize HIMS. It is to build the evidence, public understanding, policy alternatives, and sustained pressure necessary to achieve meaningful reform.
We intend to pursue that work aggressively—but also professionally, factually, and strategically. Reform will require persistence. It will require being present in the rooms where the system is discussed, and it will require creating new rooms when affected pilots have been excluded from the conversation.
