One Gift. One Challenge. Can We Turn $5,000 Into $10,000?

Pilots for HIMS Reform has received a generous $5,000 contribution from a supporter who believes in this community and in the work ahead. The donor also gave us a challenge: do not simply celebrate the gift—use it to invite others to build on the momentum.

This is about momentum—not one big donor

We are deeply grateful for this contribution. But the most important part of the donor's message was not the size of the check. It was the idea behind it.

P4HR has grown because pilots, air traffic controllers, medical professionals, families, advocates, and supporters have decided that meaningful improvement in aviation medicine requires participation. Stories matter. Data matters. Research matters. Professional engagement matters. And having the resources to keep that work moving matters too.

The donor encouraged us to challenge the broader community to match the contribution collectively.

Can we turn $5,000 into $10,000?

That does not require another $5,000 check.

Every contribution moves the number. More importantly, every contribution represents another person saying: This work matters. Keep going.

What resources make possible

For a large national organization, $5,000 may be a small line item. For a grassroots organization like P4HR, it creates real capacity.

Resources can support research and data collection, public education, communications, technical infrastructure, outreach, attendance at relevant aviation and aeromedical meetings, and the continued development of projects such as HIMS Voices. They help us organize information, bring affected voices into the discussion, and continue engaging professionally with the institutions and people who shape aviation medical policy and practice.

P4HR will continue using contributed funds responsibly, consistent with donor restrictions, applicable requirements, and our mission.

The work is expanding

Over the past several months, this community has helped P4HR move beyond discussion and into organized advocacy. We have collected stories and data, supported individual members, participated in direct conversations with aviation and aeromedical stakeholders, pursued greater transparency, and pressed for a system that protects aviation safety while also recognizing evidence, modern medicine, fairness, and due process.

There is still a great deal of work ahead. The more organized this community becomes, the stronger the information we can bring forward and the more durable this effort becomes.

This movement belongs to the community

P4HR was never intended to belong to one pilot, one physician, one diagnosis, one airline, or one organization. The issues we work on affect careers, families, clinicians, and the aviation system itself.
